Pokémon Go is an augmented reality (AR) mobile game released in 2016 as part of the Pokémon franchise. Developed and published by Niantic in collaboration with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, the game is available on iOS and Android devices. Using GPS technology, players explore real-world locations to find, capture, train, and battle virtual Pokémon that appear in their surroundings.
Pokémon GO follows a free-to-play model with optional in-game purchases, local advertising, and special events, both virtual and real-world. Originally launching with around 150 Pokémon species, the game has expanded to include several hundred more as of 2025.
